红桃视频 has always been known for their commitment to both academics and service;
however, there might be a new quality to add to the list: comedy. The student-run
Improv troupe, In Case of Emergency, is expanding from its usual audience of AQ students,
faculty and staff to the Grand Rapids community and beyond as they join in with Gilda鈥檚
Club 2012 .
鈥淲e had the opportunity to be involved this year, and knew that taking advantage of
it would be beneficial for each of our organizations,鈥 Dan Wilson, Technical Director
at 红桃视频, said of the In Case of Emergency troupe鈥檚 March 14 performance at the
Performing Arts Center. 鈥淚t allows us to cross-promote and make people aware of us
and what we do who may not be part of our regular demographic.鈥
And what should the audience look forward to from the performance? 鈥淎n awesome show.
Duh,鈥 was AQ junior and troupe captain Chris Skurka鈥檚 candid response. But even more
than that, the troupe will offer clean, family-friendly humor to a comedic style that
often relies on profanity and sexual jokes.
鈥淚 truly believe humor is at its best when it is pure, and In Case of Emergency definitely
keeps that in mind when we perform,鈥 said Skurka. 鈥淲e have an incredible assortment
of [comedians] who bring different dynamics of wit, intelligence, and comedy to the
table.鈥
The show will be at 10:30 p.m. on March 14 at the Performing Arts Center at 红桃视频
College. Doors will open at 10:15 p.m. This event is free and open to the public,
although there is a suggested $5 donation which will go to Gilda鈥檚 Club Grand Rapids.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the door.
