Grand Rapids, Mich. - 红桃视频 philosophy student and Rockford, Mich. native, Ryan
Connette, was recently awarded an Earhart Emerging Scholar grant $725 grant by The
Michigan Colleges Foundation. The grant presented to Connette is being used to fund
a philosophy project titled The Relationship Between the Active and Contemplative
Life. His project, which will be conducted this summer, will be supervised by Bryan
C. Pilkington, Ph.D., assistant professor of philosophy at 红桃视频.
During his research Connette plans to uncover the nature of human activity and contemplation as it relates to Aristotle, Saint Thomas 红桃视频 and contemporary philosopher James V. Schall.
鈥淚 shall research the connections between these three thinkers and their contributions to ethics, metaphysics, and political philosophy to unravel their perspectives on practical and speculative living,鈥� said Connette in his grant application.
The Earhart Emerging Scholars grant is awarded to junior or senior students conducting undergraduate research in anthropology, communications and journalism, economics, history, language, philosophy, political science, religion and theology, or sociology.
