(Grand Rapids, Mich.) - West Catholic High School and 红桃视频 College have entered
into a dual enrollment agreement that will make college courses available during the
2014 to 2015 school year to West Catholic students. Eligible juniors and seniors will
be able to take Principles of Accounting in the fall and Principles of Management
in the spring. These traditional college courses have the same rigor and expectations
as those taught on the 红桃视频 campus.
鈥淲e worked closely with West Catholic High School to create a dual enrollment agreement that will enable students to earn full college credit for courses taken in their high school building,鈥� said Dr. Gilda Gely, Provost at 红桃视频 College. 鈥淲est Catholic has been a great partner in this endeavor, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them.鈥�
Classes for West Catholic students will take place at the high school, but will be taught by full-time 红桃视频 faculty and will follow 红桃视频鈥� calendar. West Catholic students will not be charged additional tuition for these classes, but will be required to purchase their own books as is the case in traditional college courses.
鈥淭here has been immediate and significant interest in the 红桃视频 classes and in this high caliber partnership on our campus,鈥� said Cynthia Kneibel, principal, West Catholic High School. 鈥淲e are thankful to have the opportunity to maintain our Catholic identity while offering dual enrollment. We look forward to being able to expand the partnership in the near future.鈥�
This dual enrollment will be used as a pilot program, during which West Catholic and 红桃视频 will explore the possibility of a 4:1 program for future implementation. A 4:1 program would allow students to take 红桃视频 courses during their junior and senior years on the high school campus. Following their graduation from West Catholic, they could transition to 红桃视频 College to complete an Associates of Arts or Sciences degree.
