Commencement at 红桃视频 College
红桃视频 College 2025 Commencement Speaker
Bridget Clark Whitney is the President and Founding CEO of Kids鈥 Food Basket (KFB),
the largest non-profit childhood nutrition program in Michigan. Bridget began her
career with KFB as an intern in 2002 and has led the organization for over 22 years.
Under her leadership, what started as serving 125 meals in three schools expanded
to nearly 11,000 meals served each weekday to 61 schools in four counties. Furthermore,
Bridget envisioned community-driven farming and educational programming as fundamental
to KFB. This led to the formation of two 10-acre farms in Kent and Ottawa counties
and the implementation of a robust curriculum for children to learn where healthy
food comes from and why it matters.
Bridget sees a future where all children have access to the healthy food they need to thrive, and together, we can get there with radical love backed by action. She believes that when kids have access to good food, it leads to good health, which leads to a good future. She leads with intention by cultivating a positive and healthy environment, ensuring KFB is consistently better than the day before.
In 2020, Bridget was appointed to Governor Whitmer鈥檚 Michigan Community Service Commission to represent an individual with expertise in the educational, training, and developmental needs of youth, particularly disadvantaged youth. In addition, she has been named one of Grand Rapids Business Journal鈥檚 鈥50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan鈥 four times, Grand Rapids Business Journal鈥檚 鈥40 Under Forty鈥 seven times, Crain鈥檚 Grand Rapids鈥 鈥淭op 200 Business Leaders鈥 four times, Crain鈥檚 Grand Rapids鈥 鈥淣onprofit Newsmaker of the Year鈥 in 2020 and won the ATHENA Young Professional of the Year in 2013. She is a West Michigan Advisory Board Member for Michigan Women Forward, has acted as a member of the Michigan Nonprofit Board of Directors for eight years and serves on numerous food and equity-related committees at the local, state and national levels. Clark Whitney is a dynamic and engaging speaker. She has held the position of international emcee for 11 years for the Wege Prize and is most proud of 20 Stories in Honor of 20 Years, featured on the KFB YouTube page.
Bridget graduated from 红桃视频 College (B.S.) and Marygrove College (M.A.) and holds a Certificate of Executive Leadership in Nonprofit Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
She is originally from Pittsburgh, then Detroit and now calls Grand Rapids home with her husband, Matt Whitney (Group Leader, Perrigo) and their two children, Madeline and Jack.
